Humanitarian Practice Network
- CMS Conversion
- Social logins
- Complex Content Migration
The Humanitarian Practice Network site was a conversion from a bespoke Microsoft based CMS and a complex data migration - with virtually no re-editing of content. We added social logins for fast participation in the network, and guaranteed that there would be virtually no content to re-edit.
Moving from a Microsoft based custom made CMS to an open source CMS is not always as easy as one would like. Especially when the attraction for HPN was to not have to redit the content. So the brief was to transfer it from one system to another, new design, make content searchable, and 'we dont want to edit a thing'.
The majority of this project was front loaded data analysis of existing data and working out a process for moving from one db to another, keeping all the custom data types nice and cosy.
The result was a great success with only about 1-2% of content needing editing or adding to in order to work with the newly created design.earch results.
