Urban Forum is a national charity and a membership organisation that supports communities to have a greater say over decisions that affect them. Working with Joomkit to relaunch their website has brought a clean and easy to use site packed with interactivity for users. This is a great example of member database integration using Joomla as the framework.
The common problem - web and office integration
The content for the website needed to be arranged from lots of material that had previously been available in other formats - such as PDFs and Word Documents.
The old site was hard to manage and had no dynamic content. As a membership site it was difficult for Urban Forum to offer services directly to clients. Having two databases - one in the office and one on the web - is a common problem for membership organisations. Joomkit provided a solution for allowing Urban Forum to synchronise their office data with the website so that valid members can log-in with their unique credentials. New members are automatically created for the online site taking the headache of web administration. Once logged in users can then manage their email subscriptions and participate in discussing briefing and policy documents, as well as taking part in polls and surveys. We have even provided integrated Google maps to show membership locations.
The end result is a vastly improved user experience, and a vastly more powerful tool for Urban Forum to publish and connect with their members and the general public.
We presented Joomkit with a brief that had unforseen problems. They guided us through and stuck with the task. Their attention to detail and constant availability were essential to us.
