A new home page for CARE International UK was recently required to make use of the lovely photography that CARE commissions as part of its work. CARE International is one of the world’s top three aid agencies, fighting poverty and injustice in 70 countries around the world and helping 48 million people each year to find routes out of poverty.
The content for the website needed to be arranged from lots of material that had previously been available in other formats - such as PDFs and Word Documents.
The brief was to redesign the homepage to communicate CARE's dynamic identity, making use of the fantastic and sometimes deeply saddening photos that come back from the field.
The design was to be CSS based with no tables and had to accommodate the flexibility of the Webbler content management system allowing for random rotation of core images and quick changes of key content. Customisation of the CMS allows for fresh pictures in the main and campaign spaces as well as allowing thumbnails to appear with leading articles and features in the three columns.
