Documentation K2Notify Plugin for Joomla K2 extension

Installation

Use the Joomla installer to install both plugins. Once installed go to the plugin manager and enable the plugins. The comment notification plugin has no configuration but it does need to be instaled and enabled for K2 comment notification to work.

Plugin Notification Configuration

Navigate to the K2Notify plugin.

Please note: by default all notifications are turned off.

Global options set in the plugin apply site wide.

To limit notifications to specific categories you edit the K2 category and specify notification options within the category.

Setting Global options

Open up the K2Notify Plugin to specify global settings

Setting notifications for K2 item submissions

Send on all submissions :
Set to yes to turn on notifications for every category submitted to in the front end of K2

Send on edit:
Set to yes if you want to trigger a notification when a K2 item is edited

Email address(s) to send to:
Put one email address in here. Add more than one by separating with a comma, eg This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.,This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Global Email Subject Line:
This will set the subject line of the notification email

Email From Name:
This will set the from name of the notification email

Include K2 item:
This will include the K2 item in the email body including extrafields.

 

Setting K2 Category Specific options

Open up a K2 Category and you will see that there is now a Email Notification Settings screen beneath the category description.

Item Submission Notifications

Enable submission notifications:

Set to 'On' if you want to trigger a notification when a K2 item is submitted to this specific category

Send on edits:
Set to yes if you want to trigger a notification when a K2 item is edited in this specific category

Email address(s) to send to:
Put one email address in here. Add more than one by separating with a comma, eg This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.,This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

 

Comment Notifications

Like item submission notifications, an email can be sent when a K2 item receives a comment. You can configure this to be on for all categories or you can select specific categories only to have active comment notifications.

 

Setting Global comment notification options


You can turn on global comment settings by selecting yes in the main plugin settings as shown above. By default it is turned off. Doing this will create an email notification for all comments for all K2 items in any category.

 

Setting K2 Category Specific options for comments

If you don't want global comment notifications for all your K2 items you can use per category settings. Open up a K2 Category and you will see that there is now a Comment Notification setting screen beneath the category description.


To enable comments notifications for this category slect 'yes' from the 'Enable Comment Notifications' drop down amd specify the emails you wish to notify in the box below. This will now send an email when any item in that category receives a K2 comment submission.
